A brilliant session for anyone with a passion for Gin and a desire to get ‘submerged’ in the history, background and techniques of its manufacture, and to roll up their sleeves and make their very own unique bottle of Gin.

The Gin School is a purpose-built old school ‘laboratory’ complete with mini pot stills at each workstation and all the botanicals and ingredients needed to make a truly fine bottle of Gin.

The typical 5-hour session follows the following itinerary:

·         Welcome and meet-up over tea, coffee and soft drinks in the old school room for an introduction to the session with the Gin master who will be guiding you throughout the day.

·         After a briefing on typical styles of Gin, you will be ‘let loose’ on the 500’s bar in search of the type and style of Gin you would most like to produce. This will then be made up into a perfect serve G&T for you to enjoy whilst listening to the Gin master’s brief history of Gin.

·         You will then move onto the theory of distillation and instruction on how to go about constructing your very own Gin. This includes an introduction to the wide selection of botanicals available in the still room.

·         Then you get to grips with your still and start the construction of your very own Gin.

·         Following the practical gin making session there is time to relax and enjoy a light lunch/supper served in the school room and to sample the various Gins produced by your fellow students.

·         There is a final de-brief during which your unique recipe will be recorded in the Gin Jamboree Gin School register.

·         Time permitting, you can purchase further Gins from the 500’s bar and shop to take away.

The cost of attending a Gin School Experience is £120.00 per person all inclusive or if you prefer to work as a pair with a partner or friend and share a still workstation, then it’s just £135.00 for the pair.* see terms and conditions for the full details of what is included.

Session run on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11am and usually finish at 4:30pm.

Warning! This is not a spectator event. As part of the course you will be given the opportunity to consume alcohol, so do not plan to drive after the event.
